How to use this directory
These links are official state attorney general websites, not a legal summary or a guarantee that every office has a dedicated privacy portal. Search the site for “consumer privacy,” “data protection,” or “privacy rights.” Confirm current eligibility, response steps, and deadlines on the agency’s own page. California residents: use the state’s DROP portal
California residents can submit one deletion request to active data brokers registered with the California Privacy Protection Agency. Brokers began processing requests on August 1, 2026; status updates may take up to 90 days. The request covers eligible broker-held information, subject to legal exceptions. It does not erase information you gave directly to a business or every copy elsewhere. Review California’s eligibility and data-handling details before submitting.
