Eraser is a community-maintained project for preparing and tracking data broker opt-out requests. The maintained version offers a local web interface and command-line workflow. It uses the mail account you configure, and stores its profile and request history on your device.
That local setup gives you direct control over your records, but it also puts the setup and security work in your hands. Eraser stores identifying details and request history locally. The current 2.0 project can encrypt stored mail passwords with an optional passphrase, but that does not make every profile field or history entry encrypted. Use a dedicated device account, follow the project's file-permission guidance, and never share your config file or commit it to a repository.
Start with a dry run and inspect the recipient list before sending anything. Some brokers ask for more steps or identity checks; skip requests that require information you are not comfortable providing. A sent request is not proof that a listing was removed.
Vanishio has not independently audited or hands-on tested Eraser. Check the current release notes and setup guidance before installing.
Before deciding, review current product documentation, service terms and plan details.
Official websiteNo. Eraser is a separate project intended to run on your own device. This Vanishio page does not collect your profile or send requests.
The maintained project documents a manual-send option. You prepare messages and send them yourself from your mail client. Review its current instructions before setup.
No. You may need to confirm the request or complete a separate form, and the broker’s response must be checked. A request is not proof that every copy has been removed.
